Hadith 35 of 42

Title

Muslim brotherhood

Translation

Do not envy one another, do not drive up prices, do not hate one another, do not turn away from one another, do not outbid each other in trade — be servants of Allah as brothers.

Commentary

Six negatives that make a positive: if you remove envy, hype, hatred, grudges and predatory trade, what remains is brotherhood. Nawawī quotes Allah's view of the Muslim body politic in commerce and spirit alike.
