Frequently Asked

What are the 99 Names of Allah?+
Al-Asmāʾ al-Ḥusnā — the Most Beautiful Names — are the names by which Allah has named Himself in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah has ninety-nine names, and whoever memorises, understands and acts by them will enter Paradise (Bukhari 2736; Muslim 2677). Meditating on each name is a core act of worship, deepening love, awe, hope and trust in Allah.
Is the specific list of 99 names from an authentic narration?+
The number ninety-nine is affirmed in the Ṣaḥīḥayn (Bukhari & Muslim). The specific enumeration commonly displayed — the list you see on this page — is narrated by al-Walīd ibn Muslim in Jāmiʿ at-Tirmidhī (3507). While this specific enumeration is not considered the strongest in grade, it is the list used across traditional references and daily-dhikr apps for centuries. Scholars note there are more than 99 names of Allah in total; the number 99 refers to a specific set chosen by Allah, not a limit on His names.
How should I use this page?+
Browse the 99 names below, tap any card to open its detail page with Arabic, transliteration, meaning and a Qur'anic reference. A good daily practice is to reflect on one name each day — how it applies to you, how you can worship Allah through it, and how it should change your behaviour.
What does it mean to "memorise and act by" the Names?+
Classical scholars (e.g., Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Taymiyyah) explain three levels: (1) memorise the wording, (2) understand the meaning, (3) let each name shape worship — e.g. loving Ar-Raḥmān draws one to mercy, knowing Al-ʿAlīm to God-consciousness, knowing Al-Muʿizz and Al-Mudhill to reliance on Him alone.
