Definition
Obligatory — in most schools synonymous with farḍ; in the Ḥanafī school a slightly weaker obligation.
Example
Ḥanafīs consider the witr prayer wājib (not farḍ), meaning its abandonment is sinful but does not expel from Islam even if denied.
