Love for your brother

Arabic

لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ.

Translation

None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.

Commentary

The Prophet ﷺ tied īmān itself to an active wish for others' wellbeing. Envy and schadenfreude are not minor flaws — they are cracks in the faith. Ibn Rajab noted this includes the ultimate good: wishing guidance and Paradise for others.
