Before Sleep.

The duʿās the Prophet ﷺ taught for the moments before sleep — from blowing into the palms with the three Quls to the supplication that, if recited and one dies in the night, dies upon the fiṭrah.

    I submit myself to You

Allāhumma aslamtu nafsī ilayk, wa fawwaḍtu amrī ilayk, wa wajjahtu wajhī ilayk, wa aljaʾtu ẓahrī ilayk, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayk. Lā malja'a wa lā manjā minka illā ilayk. Āmantu bi-kitābika alladhī anzalt, wa bi-nabiyyika alladhī arsalt.

O Allah, I submit myself to You, entrust my affairs to You, turn my face to You, and rely on You — in hope and fear of You. There is no refuge from You and no escape except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.

    Virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said: 'If you die that night you die upon the fitrah, so make these the last words you say.'

Say this immediately before sleeping. These should be your final words.

    Āyat al-Kursī

Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa, al-Ḥayyu al-Qayyūm. Lā taʾkhudhuhū sinatun wa lā nawm. Lahū mā fī as-samāwāti wa mā fī al-arḍ. Man dhā alladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahū illā bi-idhnih.

Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. He is the Most High, the Most Great.

    Last Two Verses of al-Baqarah

Āmanar-rasūlu bimā unzila ilayhi mir-rabbihī wal-muʾminūn. Kullun āmana billāhi wa malāʾikatihī wa kutubihī wa rusulih. Lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin mir-rusulih. Wa qālū samiʿnā wa aṭaʿnā, ghufrānaka Rabbanā wa ilaykal-maṣīr.

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them have believed in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers, saying: 'We make no distinction between any of His messengers.' And they say: 'We hear and we obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the final return.'
