Kaffārah
Definition
Expiation for breaking an oath, a Ramadan fast (deliberately) or ẓihār.
Example
Broken-fast kaffārah follows tartīb: free a slave, then fast 60 consecutive days, then feed 60 poor people. Oath kaffārah follows takhyīr: any one of feed 10, clothe 10, free a slave; then 3 days of fasting if none is possible.
