Taqwā
Definition
God-consciousness — placing a guard between yourself and what displeases Allah.
Example
ʿUmar asked Ubayy what taqwā is. He replied: 'Have you walked a path full of thorns?' ʿUmar said yes. Ubayy said: 'That is taqwā — walking cautiously, lifting your garment.'
