About this checker
Classifications are based on the MUIS Food Additive Listing 5 (last updated 13 Sep 2016), the official halal food additive standard issued by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS). Additives marked Doubtful (Syubhah ّ) carry an asterisk (*) in the original MUIS document, indicating uncertainty by way of source or manufacturing process.
When in doubt, look for a recognised halal certification logo (MUIS, JAKIM, MUI, IFANCA) on the product packaging. This tool is a reference guide and does not replace a certified halal authority.
